One of
the greatest figures from Jewish history was actually a reluctant leader.
If we learn from the example of Moses, we come to realize that each of us has unique
gifts and talents which should be celebrated. Any person can be a leader. Each of us will be
called, at one time or another, to take a stand. Will we be ready?
And God
heard the people crying out
Listened to their suffering, and issued a command
And God chose a poor, simple shepherd
Moses to tell Pharaoh that the Jews must leave his land
But Moses
said, Please don't send me
I'm afraid they won't listen to my voice - it could be true
But you will learn, just as Moses did,
That a true leader is inside every one of you
Mi Anochi
Ki Elech? - Who am I that I should go?
Hen Lo Ya'aminu Li - The people won't believe in me
Ehyeh Asher Ehyeh - I am the One who was
I will guide you on your journey - and the One who will always be
You can trust in Me
You don't
need to be articulate to lead
You don't need to be tall and beautiful,
or possess some super strength
But if you will simply pay heed,
Stand up for what's important, a difference you will make
We all
have fears, we all have doubts,
We'd rather leave the job for someone else to do.
But you will learn, just as Moses did,
That a true leader is inside every one of you.
We all
hear the calling - let's follow the voice
We all have options - let's make a sound choice
Ignore what's around us - pretend we don't see
Or like Moses - take on the responsibility...
