I am fortunate to work with an amazing organization in Tyler, Texas called PATH, which stands for People Attempting To Help. It is a faith-based emergency and social service agency - helping those in need with everything from diapers to medicine, and from food to housing. In 2004, as PATH celebrated their 20th anniversary, I wrote this song in honor of the work they do. All faiths encourage us to help those in need - I am thankful I am connected with PATH where I can live out my faith through action.

Tough to walk with a heavy heart
Trying hard just to do your part
Every day seems more uphill
And you need some help just to get on by
And praying for strength hold your head up high

Rise up, rise up, rise up
To a new and brighter day
With a helping hand we say
Rise up, rise up, rise up (2x)

Strength in numbers is what we need
Joining together we can succeed
We all learned it from the start
Do justly, love mercy, and walk along
With the Lord your God while you sing this song
Rise up...

It all happens when someone listens
and hears a cry
When we help those who need our hand
Then God's light can shine - it can shine

Do justly, love mercy, and walk along
With the Lord your God while you sing this song
Rise up...
