Neal Katz: Music

Somewhere In Between

SOMEWHERE IN BETWEEN
words and music by Neal Katz

Distance and time,
can hallucinate the mind
Never knowing what was lost,
or what you will find
I can live my life
by just remembering the past
Picking and choosing the memories
I want to last

We grow older and wiser,
as we move on in our years
We gather up the courage,
to move beyond our fears
And somewhere in the middle,
I find myself in between
In between my perfect world,
and the world that I’ve seen

And when the dusk arrives,
slowly bringing the night
The sun slips away,
she takes with her all the light
From the moon high in the sky,
we receive a small glow
And I fall asleep somewhere in between
what I dream, and what I know...

The painted lines on the roads,
that we travel on all our life
They’re never painted straight,
they go left, they go right
Sometimes we have control,
and sometimes we don’t
We’re tempted to go astray,
though most of us won’t.

It’s a mellowing kind of feeling,
to relax and take it slow
Between learning how to run,
and knowing where to go
I’m collecting the bits and pieces
to piece together later on
And I know I’ve got to hurry,
‘cause it can’t be done, when I’m gone

Somewhere in between
what I’ve said and what I’ve meant
Somewhere in between
what I’ve taken and what I’ve lent
Somewhere in between where I am and where I’ll be
Somewhere in between who I am and who you see
