Neal Katz: Music
So Quiet
SO QUIET
words and music by Neal Katz
It’s quiet - lonely and quiet
The only voice I hear are these voices
in my head singing
It’s quiet - lonely and quiet
Up here at 29,000 feet
The smell of toilet hovers in the air
Who’s gonna be the jerk to open the door
and go in there?
Noses buried in the in-flight magazines
The seconds feel like hours,
and the hours feels like screams
Well it’s painful on my eardrums,
hey drums - I wish I had some
I’d fight this flying boredom
I’d be banging them for fun, but....
The seeing eye sits by my feet
Hey - look at the tattooed man there,
snoring in his sleep
My single serving soda spills silently on my seat
And the turbulence grows stronger
and the flight just seems that much longer
And the captain gets on the C.B.
Says “can you take your seat please?”
But I’m not going anywhere
Or else I’d already be there...
To take flight, we must fly into the wind
To get airborne requires resistance
Like me, I need a challenge to grow
A force that I can play off
to lift me up let me go, but
Up here at 29,000 feet, Up here at 28,500 feet
Up here at 28,000 feet, Up here at 27,500 feet
The song goes on like this, for 15 minutes more
Then we touch down and bounce around,
make a bee-line for the door
Out on through the jet-way,
down to the baggage claim
Waiting for my Sampsonite,
I hear someone exclaim that....
