Neal Katz: Music

Still We Stand

STILL WE STAND
words and music by Neal Katz

Tons of gravity weighting us down
Over a lifetime of trials and good deeds
She presses on and on, minute by minute,
hour by hour, year by year

Still we stand defiant
and we stand liberated
Bearing the marks of those who have overcome
The voice is the voice of ages
And the hands are the hands of time
Bearing the marks of those who have overcome

Baggy eyes shine forth wisdom
We bear the weight of so much history
And we may crumble or stumble or bumble
But we’ll regain our footing and start again

But in the end
the freedom of time
will transcend
that which weights us down.
